Ku Santarat

Main tower of Ku Santarat

Also called Santaratana, this small Khmer site is located in the province of Maha Sarakham not too far from the famous Phrathat Nadoon. Various sources disagree on what this site was used for. Some say it was a place of worship, others say it was used as a hospital. Archeological objects were found here though and they include Buddha images. The site is said to have been built during the reign of King Jayavarman (Chaiya Woraman) VII between 1181 and 1219 A.D. The Ku is next to a small temple and behind it is a pond with fish one can feed to make tambun.
